Aber nicht ohne Zwischenstop: Auf Empfehlung von Daniel (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.takeahike.de\">Take A Hike<\/a>) sind wir zuerst zum Cedar Breaks National Monument gefahren. Weiterhin kommt man auf dem Weg zum Bryce eh noch am Red Canyon vorbei, also haben wir auch dort angehalten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cedar Breaks National Monument<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nach Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck und Zeltplatz r\u00e4umen ging es dann auch schon los. Zuerst ging es quasi zur\u00fcck zur Interstate, denn der schnellste Weg f\u00fchrt \u00fcber die I-15. Alternativ kann man auch durch den Zion und den Mount Carmel Tunnel dort hin fahren, wir hatten uns jedoch f\u00fcr den schnellsten Weg entlang der Interstate entschieden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cedar Breaks ist auch unter dem Spitznamen &#8222;Mini Brcye&#8220; bekannt, denn die \u00c4hnlichkeit zwischen Beiden ist ziemlich gro\u00df. Entsprechend kalt war es hier, am Tag zuvor im Zion waren es \u00fcber 30 Grad, hier waren es nur noch gut 20 Grad Celsius. Au\u00dferdem war es dort oben sehr windig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unser erster Stop war dann am Visitor Center, um auch \u00fcberhaupt erst einmal eine Cedar Breaks Karte zu erhalten. Von dort aus haben wir dann auch nur eine kleine Wanderung Richtung Spectra Point und Ramparts Overlook gemacht. Alles in allem ein netter, kleiner Park, den man sich mal anschauen kann. Falls man die Zeit nicht hat, kann man auch direkt zum Bryce Canyon durchfahren, der deutlich gr\u00f6\u00dfer und auch wesentlich mehr an Wanderungen bietet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Red Canyon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Von Cedar Breaks ging es dann tats\u00e4chlich Richtung Bryce. Wer zum Bryce Canyon m\u00f6chte, kommt automatisch auf den Scenic Byway 12, dieser beginnt direkt mit dem Red Canyon und liegt ca. 14 Meilen (22 Kilometer) vor dem Bryce Canyon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wie \u00fcberall hier dominiert die rote Farbe der Steine, daher auch der Name &#8222;Red Canyon&#8220;. Auf beiden Seiten der Stra\u00dfe f\u00fchren Wanderwege entlang. Auf der einen Seite quasi direkt an der Stra\u00dfe ein flacher Weg zum Visitor Center, w\u00e4hrend man auf der anderen Seite durch die roten Steine wandert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wir haben direkt am Anfang geparkt und sind dann links durch die roten Steine Richtung Visitor Center gewandert. Insgeamt sind es drei kleine Trails gewesen: Gestartet sind wir mit dem Photo Trail und dann \u00fcber den Birds Eye Trail zum Hoodoo Trail. Campground. Hier hatte ich im Jahr vorher schon auf dem Campground \u00fcbernachtet und wusste von sehr sauberen Duschen. Die Duschen im Haupthaus sind aber deutlich \u00e4lter und l\u00e4ngst nicht so gut wie die unten am Campground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anschlie\u00dfend ging es dann auch direkt in den Park. Direkt am Ruby&#8217;s ist auch eine Bushaltestelle f\u00fcr das Park Shuttle. \u00c4hnlich wie im Zion gibt es auch im Bryce ein Shuttlesystem. Hier kann man jedoch auch mit dem eigenen Auto in den Park. Bei der Gr\u00f6\u00dfe ist dies kein Problem. Gegen 18 Uhr waren wir dann auch am Bryce Point und konnten zumindest noch ein bisschen wandern, f\u00fcr die gesamte Loop hat die Zeit jedoch nicht mehr gereicht. Ich kann jedem nur empfehlen morgens fr\u00fch zu starten und bis zum Sonnenuntergang zu bleiben. Daher haben wir dann auch nur einen kleinen Teil des eigentlichen Weges gemacht. Stattdessen sind wir dann noch am Sunset und Sunrise Point ein bisschen oben am Rim entlang gewandert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dort sind wir &#8211; mal wieder &#8211; auf Deutsche getroffen. Ein Canyon entsteht klassicherweise durch einen Fluss, der sich den Weg durch einen Felsen bahnt. So ist z.B. auch der Zion Canyon entstanden. Beim Bryce verh\u00e4lt es sich jedoch anders. Bryce liegt an einer Abbruchkante des Paunsaugunt-Plateaus und ist zus\u00e4tzlich durch Erosion, also nicht durch einen Fluss entstanden. Aber nicht ohne Zwischenstop: Auf Empfehlung von Daniel (Take A Hike) sind wir zuerst zum Cedar Breaks National Monument gefahren. Weiterhin kommt man auf dem Weg zum Bryce eh noch am Red Canyon vorbei, also haben wir auch dort angehalten. Cedar Breaks National Monument Nach Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck und Zeltplatz r\u00e4umen ging es dann auch schon los. Zuerst ging es quasi zur\u00fcck zur Interstate, denn der schnellste Weg f\u00fchrt \u00fcber die I-15. Alternativ kann man auch durch den Zion und den Mount Carmel Tunnel dort hin fahren, wir hatten uns jedoch f\u00fcr den schnellsten Weg entlang der Interstate entschieden. Cedar Breaks ist auch unter dem Spitznamen &#8222;Mini Brcye&#8220; bekannt, denn die \u00c4hnlichkeit zwischen Beiden ist ziemlich gro\u00df. Beide haben die Gestalt eines Amphitheaters, beide sind farblich im selben Orange gehalten und in Beiden findet man sogenannte Hoodoos. Im Verglich zum Bryce Canyon liegt Cedar Breaks noch einmal um ca. 300 Meter h\u00f6her, bei gut 3000 m. Entsprechend kalt war es hier, am Tag zuvor im Zion waren es \u00fcber 30 Grad, hier waren es nur noch gut 20 Grad Celsius. Au\u00dferdem war es dort oben sehr windig. Unser erster Stop war dann am Visitor Center, um auch \u00fcberhaupt erst einmal eine Cedar Breaks Karte zu erhalten. Von dort aus haben wir dann auch nur eine kleine Wanderung Richtung Spectra Point und Ramparts Overlook gemacht. Die Wanderung zur Subway am Tag zuvor sa\u00df vor allem mir noch ordentlich in den Beinen. Bevor es zum Red Canyon ging, sind wir noch zur Aussichtspunkt Chessman Ridge gefahren. Alles in allem ein netter, kleiner Park, den man sich mal anschauen kann. Falls man die Zeit nicht hat, kann man auch direkt zum Bryce Canyon durchfahren, der deutlich gr\u00f6\u00dfer und auch wesentlich mehr an Wanderungen bietet. Red Canyon Von Cedar Breaks ging es dann tats\u00e4chlich Richtung Bryce. Wer zum Bryce Canyon m\u00f6chte, kommt automatisch auf den Scenic Byway 12, dieser beginnt direkt mit dem Red Canyon und liegt ca. 14 Meilen (22 Kilometer) vor dem Bryce Canyon. Wie \u00fcberall hier dominiert die rote Farbe der Steine, daher auch der Name &#8222;Red Canyon&#8220;. Im Gegensatz zu Cedar Breaks oder dem Bryce Canyon findet man hier noch sehr viel gr\u00fcne Vegatation, auch wenn es fast nur Borstenkiefern oder irgendwelche Str\u00e4ucher sind. Unsere Wanderschuhe waren immer noch nass vom Vortag, somit haben wir es auch hier wieder bei einer leichten Wanderung belassen. Auf beiden Seiten der Stra\u00dfe f\u00fchren Wanderwege entlang. Auf der einen Seite quasi direkt an der Stra\u00dfe ein flacher Weg zum Visitor Center, w\u00e4hrend man auf der anderen Seite durch die roten Steine wandert. Wir haben direkt am Anfang geparkt und sind dann links durch die roten Steine Richtung Visitor Center gewandert. Insgeamt sind es drei kleine Trails gewesen: Gestartet sind wir mit dem Photo Trail und dann \u00fcber den Birds Eye Trail zum Hoodoo Trail. An einer Stelle kann man dann vom Birds Eye Trail zum Camel Overlook, an dem es doch tats\u00e4chlich (mit etwas Phantasie) ein Kamel zu sehen gibt. Anschlie\u00dfend sind wir noch kurz ins Visitor Center und dann entlang der Stra\u00dfe zur\u00fcck zum Auto. Im Hinterland gibt es auch noch wesentlich mehr Wanderungen, zu denen uns aber leider auch die Zeit fehlte. Man kann hier sicherlich noch einige Zeit verbringen. Bryce Canyon Bevor es wirklich in den Bryce ging, haben wir zumindest noch unseren Schlafplatz f\u00fcr die n\u00e4chsten zwei N\u00e4chte belegt: Ein Tipi im Ruby&#8217;s Inn RV Park &amp; Campground. Hier hatte ich im Jahr vorher schon auf dem Campground \u00fcbernachtet und wusste von sehr sauberen Duschen. Die Duschen im Haupthaus sind aber deutlich \u00e4lter und l\u00e4ngst nicht so gut wie die unten am Campground. Anschlie\u00dfend ging es dann auch direkt in den Park. Direkt am Ruby&#8217;s ist auch eine Bushaltestelle f\u00fcr das Park Shuttle. \u00c4hnlich wie im Zion gibt es auch im Bryce ein Shuttlesystem. Hier kann man jedoch auch mit dem eigenen Auto in den Park. Bei der Gr\u00f6\u00dfe ist dies kein Problem. Wir sind diesmal mit dem Auto in den Park und der obligatorische Stop am Nationalparkschild durfte nat\u00fcrlich nicht fehlen. Wir sind dann direkt durchgefahren bis zum Bryce Point um eventuell noch den Peekaboo Loop Trail wandern zu k\u00f6nnen. Gegen 18 Uhr waren wir dann auch am Bryce Point und konnten zumindest noch ein bisschen wandern, f\u00fcr die gesamte Loop hat die Zeit jedoch nicht mehr gereicht. Daf\u00fcr wurden wir mit wundersch\u00f6nen Blicken ins Amphitheater belohnt. Weiter als bis zum Bryce Point konnte man dieses Jahr auch nicht fahren, denn die Stra\u00dfe Richtung Rainbow Point war aufgrund des Riggs Fire gesperrt. Immer wieder erh\u00e4lt man wundersch\u00f6ne Blicke in&#8217;s nat\u00fcrliche Amphitheater des Bryce. Die Sch\u00f6nheit dieser Gegend kommt gerade zu Zeiten des Sonnenfaufgangs oder, wie hier, des Sonnenuntergangs zum Vorschein. Ich kann jedem nur empfehlen morgens fr\u00fch zu starten und bis zum Sonnenuntergang zu bleiben. Man erh\u00e4lt wundersch\u00f6ne Motive, wie das Folgende: Da wir uns auf fast 3000 Metern H\u00f6he befinden, wird es nach Sonnenuntergang gerade unten im Amphitheater sehr schnell kalt. Daher haben wir dann auch nur einen kleinen Teil des eigentlichen Weges gemacht. Stattdessen sind wir dann noch am Sunset und Sunrise Point ein bisschen oben am Rim entlang gewandert. Dort sind wir &#8211; mal wieder &#8211; auf Deutsche getroffen. Egal wo man in den USA ist, vor allem aber in den Nationalparks, \u00fcberall findet man deutsche Touristen. Am Rim haben wir dann auch noch einen sch\u00f6nen Sonnenuntergang miterlebt. Bevor die letzten Fotos kommen, noch ein paar Worte zum Bryce &#8222;Canyon&#8220;. Ein Canyon entsteht klassicherweise durch einen Fluss, der sich den Weg durch einen Felsen bahnt. So ist z.B. auch der Zion Canyon entstanden. Beim Bryce verh\u00e4lt es sich jedoch anders. Bryce liegt an einer Abbruchkante des Paunsaugunt-Plateaus und ist zus\u00e4tzlich durch Erosion, also nicht durch einen Fluss entstanden. Aufgrund der Form dieser Abbruchkante spricht man auch von einem nat\u00fcrlichen Amphitheater. Die gesamte Gegend vom Zion \u00fcber Cedar Breaks, Bryce, Escalante bis hin zum Grand Canyon ist auch bekannt als &#8222;The Grand Staircase&#8220;. Das Grand Staircase ist somit verantwortlich f\u00fcr einen Gro\u00dfteil der Natur im S\u00fcdwesten Utahs.
